Kim has described portraits of females, international marriage couples, residents from outside of Jeju through pictures. Her pictures focus on surroundings not a centre of our daily lives and have features on capturing delicate situation, moderation and specific detail. Pictures of Kim leads the audience to reorganise their sense and take mixed life and daily life in. Kim majored in photography at Hongik University and has had exhibitions at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Leeum, Seoul Museum of Art, PS1/MOMA, art galleries in Chelsea, Houston, Santa Barbara, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, and Santiago. She has been awarded Ilwoo Photography Award in 2017, Dong Gang Photography Award in 2016, The Daum Prize in 2007, Seco Photo Award in 2010, PS1 International Studio Program, fellowship in 2003.
